A decoration full of history in the heart of Eixample
Lluïsa Deulonder and Chone de la Sotilla transform an old apartment in the heart of Eixample into a warm candy box, highlighting the original modernist heritage elements.
When approaching this decoration project, the two interior designers, Chone de la Sotilla and Lluïsa Deulonder were clear that they had to respect the noble elements of the apartment located on Muntaner street, signed by the prestigious architect Joan Bassegoda i Nonell and protected by Patrimonio . Thus, original elements such as hydraulic floors, wall moldings and cornices on the ceilings have been preserved and enhanced. Playing with the tones of the beautiful modernist floor, they have opted for a range of colors to match, such as a cream color for the walls.
The 80m2 apartment, designed for a couple to live, has two spacious rooms: a living room and a desk that takes advantage of the bright gazebo, and the other the kitchen and dining room, connected with a door that is the original of the house. On the other hand, all the carpentry is painted white to gain luminosity.
In the case of the kitchen, located in one of the brightest areas of the house, a green lacquered cabinet has been chosen to match the floral motifs on the floor. The envelopes are in white Corian, in conjunction with the flange on the walls.
The bedroom has been located in the interior part of the apartment, which faces the interior patio, and has a dressing room and a bathroom. The walls have been opted for a stone gray color and the floor is made of synthetic parquet.
A reading corner has also been created near the window with its point of light. The play of shades of gray and ocher and indirect light contributes to creating a Zen resting space.
The entrance hall keeps the original built-in wardrobes. In the hall, a cabinet has also been thought of to hang coats and a guest toilet.
One of the important elements is the soundproofing of the floor, thanks to a double glass that isolates the interior space from the exterior, without forgetting the restoration of the original windows with a reinforced closure that helps prevent noise from passing through. As a whole, the apartment is offered as a haven of peace full of harmony thanks to this decoration made in Deulonder, capable of creating enveloping and calm spaces where living is easier.
